Kindergarten through Second Grade

Programming is designed cooperatively by the classroom teacher and the TAG teacher for students who demonstrate the need for additional academic depth and complexity. Select students may participate in accelerated learning opportunities.

Third Grade

Third grade serves as a transition between informal participation and formal identification for TAG services. National ability and achievement assessments are administered in the fall of third grade to help determine formal TAG identification. Students who meet these criteria are then included in formal TAG programming, and an Advanced Learning Plan (ALP) is developed.

Fourth and Fifth Grade

Students formally identified for TAG services work with their classroom teacher, parents, and the TAG teacher to develop academic and affective goals as part of the ALP. The ALP guides the types of programming services that meet each student’s individual needs.

Exploratory and enrichment class offerings provide opportunities for further talent development. These may include, but are not limited to:

  • Continental Math League
  • Full Grade Acceleration
  • Independent Studies
  • Junior Great Books
  • Poetry Contest
  • Single Subject Acceleration
  • WordMasters
