Weather Notifications
District 20 shares weather decisions through ParentSquare, local television and radio, and district and school websites. Families may keep a child home or pick up early when concerned about hazardous conditions; students will not be penalized for the absence. Notify the office using attendance procedures.
Two-Hour Delays
Morning buses pick up two hours later than usual; afternoon buses run on the normal schedule.
No breakfast is served, and all before-school activities are canceled.
Morning preschool is canceled. Afternoon preschool attends with normal bus service.
See Schedules for delayed school and preschool hours.
District Closures
All grade levels are canceled, all district buildings are closed, bus service is unavailable, and district and school events are canceled.
Early Release
If a serious storm develops during the school day, students may be released approximately two hours early. A decision is made by approximately 10:30 a.m., and local television and radio are advised of the storm alert.
Buses drop students at normal stops. Keep your preferred transportation method current in Infinite Campus so staff can send your child home as indicated.
Indoor Dismissal
When weather requires indoor dismissal, the school sends an email and text notification through ParentSquare with as much notice as possible.
Bus riders: Wait in the gym by bus number and are escorted to buses when safe. Routes may be delayed.
Car riders: Wait inside. Staff use two-way radios to gather students as vehicles arrive in Kiss ’n Go.
Walkers: Wait in the cafeteria for parent pickup. Park in the visitor lot and enter through the cafeteria door, or use Kiss ’n Go if parking is unavailable.
