Learning as an IB Student
Antelope Trails supports the whole child through academic, social and emotional learning. Students are expected to:
Take responsibility for their actions.
Arrive on time and prepared.
Participate constructively.
Respect personal space.
Follow safety expectations at school, on buses, around bicycles and on the playground.
The IB Learner Profile encourages students to be inquirers, principled, risk-takers, thinkers, caring, knowledgeable, communicators, open-minded, balanced and reflective. Learn more about IB-PYP at Antelope Trails.
Responding to Behavior Concerns
Teachers communicate with families and use interventions before involving the office unless an incident is severe, such as bullying, fighting or threatening behavior. When a student is referred to an administrator, the goal is to understand what happened, support reflection and plan for future success.
Consequences may include:
A warning
Loss of privileges
Detention
In-school suspension
Out-of-school suspension
A recommendation for expulsion
Administrators determine consequences under Colorado law and district policy. Teachers or administrators notify families about office visits and consequences; formal referrals always include parent or guardian communication. Discipline is confidential under FERPA.
Suspension and Re-Entry
Suspension may be necessary for student or community safety. Grounds may include:
Continued willful disobedience or persistent defiance
Willful damage to school property
Behavior incompatible with others’ rights, welfare or safety
Continued disruption of learning
Parents and students are informed and consulted when suspension is considered. A re-entry meeting is held when the student returns.
Sex-Based Discrimination and Harassment
Title IX prohibits sex-based discrimination in federally funded education programs, including sexual harassment, sexual assault and other sexual misconduct. The school works with the district Title IX compliance coordinator to investigate reports, determine whether a violation occurred and identify appropriate actions. See district Title IX information for reporting and support resources.
Lost and Found
Lost and Found is in the hallway near the art room. Label coats, boots, gloves, hats, lunch containers and water bottles with your student’s name. Unclaimed items are donated at the end of each semester.
